Subject: Resignation due to intolerable
working environment
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am here to state that first with all due
respect; there are several reasons for my resignation. I want to take your
attention to the most recent ones. This has happened with my fellow colleague that
the shift manager Mohammed Salah tried to dictate an order, which was against
the company policy and got a reply that you are useless. What kind of response
is this?
People doing their job properly, with
sincerity and hard work, do they deserve this kind of response? Just because
they are doing their job and not only their job, they are doing the job of at
least three people just because of the company policy of keeping the labour
cost down at the peak hours with trainees in the kitchen.
Yesterday one incident happened with me that
as a critical champion I have raised my concerned about the chimney and raising
temperature of the broiler. I reported to shift manager Amr Bikhit who was
running the shift at that time. That the broiler main electric socket is not in
good condition and the old chimney is not compatible with the new broiler, it
is leaving all the smoke inside the kitchen instead of exhausting it out
resulting rise in temperature in the kitchen and making the environment hot.
Please inform about this situation to area manager namely Arron Morley or to
the GM namely Yanna Li.
On this the shift manager Amr Bikhit made fun
of me and replied, “In your country people work in more horrible conditions
than this why you are making a fuss about this?”
I do not understand why I wasted my time in
training on Tuesday 11/09/2012 as a critical champion?
The latest incident happened today that I
supposed to finish my job at 18:00. The shift manager Amr Bikhit asked me did
you have your break? I replied, “No”. On this, the manager replied you could go
on break at 17:00. I said, do not send me on break, I am about to finish my job
at 18:00; instead of finishing at 18:00 can I go early at 17:30. On this, the
manager dictated me; no, you have to go to break. On this, I stayed silent
because I do not wanted to argue.
I was at work since 10:00 today and constantly
working. Before 17:00 I went to my colleague and stand there for hardly five,
ten minutes, on this the shift manager Amr Bikhit got mad and started asking me
questions like why there is no meat, why this is not there etc. Just because in
the whole day I stand still for few minutes and stand me home at 17:00 as a
punishment.
The senior staff, the management talk whenever
they want leaving the work for us. They are there to talk and go home with the
salary for the work they never do. We do our work and their work and the work
of another person who is not there because to keep the labour cost low. Are we
slaves?
I do not want to sound racist but I never had
any problem except the three Egyptians working there. Unfortunately, they have
British passports and they are trying there best to make this restaurant like
we use to have in low standard countries.
I want to protest against this discrimination
and illiterate people. They are in senior post just because they have British
passports but actually, they are illiterate. I refuse to work under illiterate
and bad mannered people.
I can write so many reasons for my resignation
but I am fade up of all of this. I do not want any more fights in Burger King.
It is better to leave. I am in U.K not in Asia.
You can easily be promoted just because you
hold British passports, it does not matter that you do not even know how to
speak with people. That is what I saw in my restaurant recently. Best of Luck
People!
In the end one more thing, if my resources
allow me, I will definitely want to take the company to the court and claim
constructive dismissal.
Secondly, I want to say that by the Grace of
Almighty Allah, the Most Gracious, and the Most Merciful, the one who provides
us food, shelter, and protector of all. I will try my level best to write a
report about the working conditions in this company and send it to the Ministry
of Labour United Kingdom.
