Subject: Concerns over Drive Thru and more Health &
Safety Issues
As I was mentioning in the whole investigation that there
are many issues. It is very difficult to remember them all the same time.
In many issues, there is also an issue of Drive Thru. We,
the kitchen staff whenever get together; we talk about the Drive Thru and see
it as discrimination and a mess creator for us.
We do not understand why we have to leave the front counter order
and have give priority to the Drive Thru. The customers on the front counter
and on the Drive Thru paying the same price for the food, so why do we have to serve
the Drive Thru first?
This is not only discriminatory but also a problem creator
for the kitchen people. We leave all the orders of front counter and start
doing the orders of Drive Thru.
For example, if a customer comes on the front counter and at
the same time a car comes and after that another car comes in and this
continues straight to half hour.
Yes its true, when it gets busy; it gets busy all of the
sudden and it can stay till half hour, so what’s that mean? That means the
customer on the front counter will get its order after half and most of the
times it really happens and customers get angry. In addition, this usually
happens at evenings and nights because most of the time there is only one
person in the kitchen.
The situation gets worst when a car or most of the cars give
big orders.
So having a set period at the Drive Thru and giving
preference to Drive Thru does not mean anything rather than creating problem
and confusing between orders and it effects speed of service. In addition, we
think this classifies as discriminatory as well.
Health and Safety
Once when Mohammed Salah started work in the restaurant, he
used to take the basket of fries from the fries container and through it in the
fryers due to this the oil get splash and they fell all over around, on the
floor as well. Raising health and safety issue because if the oil fell on the
floor it will make the floor slippery and at the busy time, no one has the time
to clean the oil from the floor.
Because of this throwing of basket of fries in the fryers,
once Mohammed Salah burnt Maria Bolas’s hand.
On that day, I was not at work. I came to know about this
incident from my colleague. I asked my colleague did Maria inform about this
incident to Yana, She ‘replied I don’t know’.
On this, I asked my colleague that if Maria did not told the
incident to Yana, let me go to her and tell her what happened. On this my
colleague told me that this is not your concerned, you stay out of this. Therefore,
I did not say anything to Yana about this incident.
However, I think this is a serious matter because of this
our colleagues are in danger of potential serious injury.
Few days ago, again I was not at work and I think you know
about this incident. The display shield of the hoarding on the counter fell
over Maria’s shoulders and I do not know for how many days she could not move
her head.
Nevertheless, these are things I think are serious and need
to be informed to the management. I think if they go neglected, can cause big
problem later on.
